What you need first
- A Slack account in the workspace you want to bring in.
- Permission for Stack to read and send messages as you. Slack asks for it when you connect.
How to connect it
- 01Open Settings → IntegrationsIn the Stack app.
- 02Choose Connect on SlackStack keeps 30 days of Slack messages, as Slack’s terms require; older messages stay in Slack.
- 03Approve in SlackSlack shows what Stack can see and do. Approve, and you’re back in Settings.
- 04New messages arrive as they’re sentStack brings in a little recent history from your busiest conversations, then every new message from the moment you connect.
What it does not do yet
- Stack keeps 30 days of messages, plus the latest 30 in each conversation; older ones stay in Slack.
- Only channels you’re a member of come in.
- Only a little recent history comes across when you first connect.
More detail
Your Slack account is private to you by default. Owners and admins can also add an optional workspace bot for automations and team channels.
Stack connects through Slack’s own sign-in, and access tokens are kept in an encrypted vault.
